Accutane Attorney Has Promising News For Injured Clients

A recent study has reinforced Accutane attorney claims that the acne drug can be linked to certain instances of inflammatory bowel disease and ulcerative colitis.

"Time is quickly running out for Roche," said Jim Keller, an attorney for the high-profile Accutane Team litigation group.  "Until now, much of the evidence against Roche was anecdotal. Now, we have medical evidence that proves our clients' illnesses are a direct result of Accutane use."

The drug study was performed by researchers from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, and they presented their findings to the American College of Gastroenterology, which revealed a higher incidence of bowel disorders among Accutane users compared to those who did not use the acne drug.

Accutane attorneys, like those for the Accutane Team, have filed lawsuits agaisnt Roche to force the pharmaceutical company to provide full disclosure to clients so that they are properly informed of the risks or, alternatively, to take the medication off the market completely.

The Accutane Team represents clients who were not adequately informed of the increased risk of inflammatory bowel disease.  The legal team continues to secure verdicts on behalf of their injured clients and are actively reviewing Accutane cases for potential claims.

C.B. Fleet Says Bowel Cleansers Safe – May Try To Sell Product Again

Just months after C.B. Fleet issued a voluntary recall of Fleet Phospho-soda and the Fleet Phospho-soda EZ-Prep Bowel Cleansing System , the company is now saying that the drug is safe when used as directed. The company now has collected thousands of cases of the previously recalled product and is thinking of putting them back on the market. Even if the product does go back on the market, the FDA has required that the drug included a boxed warning about the health dangers associated with the drug.

The Food & Drug Administration (FDA) issued a blanket safety warning about oral sodium-phosphates bowel cleansing solutions last year after a number of patients suffered from permanent and sometimes deadly liver problems after using the products.

Keller & Keller LLP is now representing clients in injury cases involving acute kidney injury related to oral sodium phosphate products.

Supreme Court Rules That FDA Drug Approval Can’t Prevent Defective Drug Lawsuits

On March 5, the Supreme Court made a decision that should help those seeking to sue drug companies over defective drugs or medical products. With a 6-3 ruling, the court ruled that the approval of a drug by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) cannot prevent a patient from bringing a defective drug lawsuit to court against the drug company in question.

Experts believe that this ruling will make drug companies increase safety measures in relation to their product, since they could still be held accountable if their defective medical products hurt consumers. Drug testing and drug research could increase outside of FDA testing, while some more experimental drug development could be halted. At the same time, other drugs already on the market could be pulled off shelves because pharmaceutical companies are anticipating future lawsuits that they will not be immune to.

If you believe you have been injured or harmed by a defective drug, it is vital that you contact an experienced defective drug injury attorney immediately.

Oral Sodium Phosphate Side-Effects Could be a Sign of Acute Kidney Injury

As Keller & Keller LLP continues to monitor our clients' potential oral sodium phosphate (OSP) cases, many people have asked about potential side-effects related to OSP.  Many times people will show symptoms before they realize they are suffering from acute kidney injury.

Please view our latest library document: "What are the Side Effects of Colonoscopy Preps? OsmoPrep, Visicol, Fleet Oral Sodium Phosphates? " for more information regarding any potential risks associated with OSP's, over-the-counter Fleet products, or prescription medications such as OsmoPrep and Visicol.

Remember, the ONLY way to determine if the function of your kidneys has been compromised is to have your doctor perform a simple blood test.

Kidney Injury Lawyers, Keller & Keller LLP, advise clients and consumers to visit bowelprepoptions.com

Salix Pharmaceuticals has created a website designed to educate health care providers on the proper use of prescription bowel cleansing products.  Health care providers and patients can now visit this site to access instruction sheets , package inserts , medical information resources , and other materials that serve as an overview for prescription strength colonoscopy preps.

Specifically, the site was designed as a professional resource to better inform healthcare providers about the potential dangers and risks associated with prescription strength colonoscopy preps such as OsmoPrep , MoviPrep , and Visicol . The site strongly warns providers to pay critical attention to the dosing requirements and the patient selection criteria.

The website also addresses C.B. Fleet's decision to voluntarily recall their OTC products that have been used as colonoscopy preps.  The two products in question, Fleet Phospho-soda and Fleet Phospho-soda EZ-Prep Bowel Cleansing System , have also been found to have caused severe kidney injury in certain individuals.

Physicians, patients and caregivers who have additional questions may call 866.669.SLXP (7597) or e-mail prephelp@salix.com for additional information.

Keller & Keller LLP is currently speaking with potential clients across the country regarding this class action lawsuit.  Anyone that has suffered from an acute kidney injury is advised to contact an acute kidney injury lawyer  to ensure that their rights are protected throughout the duration of this class action lawsuit.

OsmoPrep and Visicol makers answer to FDA regarding acute kidney injury in colonoscopy patients

The FDA has required the makers (Salix Pharmaceuticals ) of OsmoPrep and Visicol to conduct a risk evaluation and mitigation strategy that is designed to manage the known serious risks associated with both of their oral-sodium phosphate products .

Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategies (REMS) are designed to manage a known or potential serious risk associated with a drug or biological product.  A REMS will be required of Salix to ensure that the benefits of the Osmoprep and Visicol coloscopy preps outweigh the potential for acture kindey injury (acute phosphate nephropathy).

Salix Pharmaceuticals will be required to provide the FDA with a:

Medication guide
Patient package insert
A communication plan
Elements to assure safe use
Implementation system
A timetable for assessment of the REMS

If you have suffered an acute kidney injury following the use of a colonoscopy prep drug, it's critical that you contact an attorney to protect your legal rights for a possible recovery in a class-action lawsuit.

Oral Sodium Phosphate study reveals interesting fact

A recent study  revealed that patients with obscure gastrointestinal (GI) bleeding undergoing bowel preparation with OSP (oral sodium phosphate ) prior to endoscopy can just as effectively cleanse their small bowel by undergoing an 8-hour fast.  The American Society for Gastrointestianl Endoscopy  contains several studies that discuss patient safety regarding endoscopy and other related procedures.

Keller & Keller LLP will continue to monitor all breaking news related to oral sodium phosphate as we pursue potential class action lawsuits against manufacturer C.B. Fleet Company , maker of  Fleet Phospho-soda , as well as other over-the-counter bowel cleansing systems, and Salix Pharmaceuticals , manufacturer of Visicol  and OsmoPrep .

If you or a loved one were given an OSP before undergoing a colonoscopy (or similar procedure) and have suffered an acute kidney injury , its imperative that you protect the statute of limitations of your case.  There are strict time restraints associated with class action lawsuits, and if you fail to protect this statute, you are forever barred from any potential recovery.

Class Action Lawsuit Filed Against Laxative Makers Over Kidney Damage

Just as the risks of oral sodium phosphates are becoming clear to the Food & Drug Administration in the United States, Canadians are piecing together a class action lawsuit against the makers of the over-the-counter laxative that many say causes severe kidney damage . Many patients were told to use the product, Fleet Phospho-soda , in preparation for colonoscopies .

Many of those involved with the lawsuit claim that the company should have known - or perhaps did know - about the serious, permanent damage caused by their product. One patient, a 52-year-old woman who used two doses of the product, now has kidneys that are only functioning at 27% .

A new US study has revealed that as many as 7,000 cases of kidney failure could be attributed to these products. Many may still be unaware of their kidney damage.

At Keller & Keller LLP , we are representing clients who have suffered from the use of oral sodium phosphates (OSPs ). For more information on this class action lawsuit against this dangerous oral laxative, contact us today .

FDA links Oral Sodium Phosphate (OSPs) to serious kidney problems

Keller & Keller LLP is now accepting cases on behalf of clients that have been injured due to the use of Oral Sodium Phosphates (OSPs ).  OSPs are used primarily for bowel cleansing prior to colonoscopy or other procedures.

The FDA has reported that there are specific cases of patients suffering from serious side effects after OSPs  were used for bowel cleansing--some of the side effects can be life threatening . These patients were further noted as not having any other identifiable factors that would have otherwise placed them at risk for developing serious kidney injury.
