Eye injuries are not uncommon in auto accidents. I recently spoke with a young man whose windows were broken as a result of a side impact collision. Though he suffered soft tissue injuries to his neck and back, his main concern was for the injury that the broken glass caused to his eye.
The side impact shattered the driver's side window and particles of the broken glass entered his eye causing scrathes to his left eyeball as well as an eyelid laceration. Although he was told by doctors that his vision will not be permanently affected, he is still experiencing pain in his eye and is having a re-evaluation.
The following video contains excellent information regarding the anatomy of the eye, injuries to the eye, and treatment methods for an eye injury.
