Indiana Man Sues After Falling Down Elevator Shaft

A caterer working in the Indiana Repertory Theatre is suing after he was seriously injured in an elevator shaft fall. While the lawsuit is against both the IRT and Kone, the elevator company, the elevator company believes that IRT should be responsible for paying the compensation.

The Indiana personal injury accident took place in 2007 when Charlie Stamps was catering an event for MBP Distinctive Catering. He was rolling a hot cart near the elevator when the doors opened and he fell down the shaft to the ground four stories below.

While a specific amount for damages has not been discussed by Stamps, the IRT and Kone believe that the number could be significant, and neither want to pay. Both say that the other company misunderstood their agreement when it comes to liability and neither want to take responsibility for the serious fall.
