Indiana Toll Road Crash is Scene of Past Accident Fatalities

This month we covered the tragic car accident in which seven family members were killed and four others were injured on the Indiana Toll Road. The deadly Elkhart County crash took place when a minivan filled with ten people struck a deer in the road only to be struck from behind by an 18-wheeler who could not slow for the disabled vehicle.

Killed in the accident were 21-year-old Maria J. Yupa, 8-year-old, Edwin Quizhpe, 6-week-old Franklin Quizhpe, 52-year-old Pedro Chimborazo, 15-year-old Pedro Chimborazo Jr., 26-year-old Maria Chimborazo Pinguil, and 8-year-old Jessica Chimborazo.

Accident records reveal that the particular stretch of road where the fatal Indiana minivan accident occurred has a history of similar accidents:

  • Five years ago, eight people were killed and two others were injured in a single crash just a mile from the site of the crash.
  • Six years ago, three family members traveling in the same car were killed in an accident one mile in the other direction.
  • Six years ago, five people were killed in a five-car, chain-reaction crash.
  • Seven years ago, four people were killed in a six-vehicle accident involving a tractor-trailer two miles away.

If you have been injured in a traffic accident on the Indiana Toll Road or in a car accident in Elkhart County, it is important that you understand who was at fault for the crash and whether or not you deserve compensation for damages. Call the Indianapolis car accident attorneys at Keller & Keller to learn more about your accident.
