It is also prescribed to treat broncial infections, prostate gland infections, tuberculosis, and typhoid fever. The FDA aproved Bayer manufactured Cipro on August 30, 2000.

Bayer added a warning for Toxic Epidermal Necrolysis, a serious sometimes fatal disease similar to Stevens Johnson Syndrome, in May of 2005. Other side effects include rashes, fever, dizziness, confusion, allergic reactions, pain and inflamation, increased sensitivity of the skin to sunlight, shortness of breath, and hives.

Cipro has been linked to tendon ruptures due to toxic effects on connective tissue structures. This is more common in elderly patients or patients taking some form of steroids. Cipro has also been linked to peripheral neuropathy causing damage to periphail nerves, and neurological damage from seizures.
