ZYPREXA
Zyprexa is a medication that is used to treat psychoses including schizophrenia and acute manic episodes associated with bipolar I disorder. Researchers, have determined that Zyprexa may increase a person's risk of developing diabetes and hyperglycemia. Researchers have also found evidence that Zyprexa may cause Pancreatitis.

On June 9, 2005, Lilly announced that it will settle for $690 Million approximately three-quarters of the liability lawsuits stemming from claims that the label on Zyprexa medication boxes failed to provide adequate warning that the drug could put patients at increased risk for developing diabetes. As recently as April 11, 2005 the FDA issued an alert advising health care providers, patients, and patient caregivers to safety issues regarding Zyprexa
