Richard Malloy, 27, of the 3500 Block of East 79^th Steet was pronounced dead at the scene of a crash on Illinois Street near 18^th Street on Friday, March 3, 2009. Malloy was apparently driving his SUV south on the one-way northbound Illinois Street when it crashed into a Clarian Health ambulance from LifeLine Critical Care. The ambulance was driven by Chantel Howell, 30, who was alone in the ambulance at the time of the crash. She was treated for her injuries and released at Methodist Hospital.

The crash was being investigated by the Fatal Alcohol Crash Team, officers who handle wrecks where drunk driving is suspected.
