7-year-old girl struck by vehicle

Faith Irwin, 7, was getting into a car parked along West havens Street at around 7:17 p.m. Thursday, December 11, 2008, when she was hit by a black 1999 Grand Am driven by Patricia Spence, 39.
Police say that Spence's blood alcohol content was .09 and she was arrested on a Class D felony charge of operating a vehicle while intoximated. Detectives said Spence was driving east in the 600 block of West Havens Street about 7:15 p.m. with a 1-year old baby in the back seat when she hit Irwin.
Irwin's mother, Michelle Lawson, was a witness to the incident and told police that the Grand Am was in the wrong lane of traffic.
Faith Irwin sustained serious injuries and was transported to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
