A Haubstadt man died after being involved in North Side wreck

A 19-year-old Haubstadt man died this morning from injuries sustained in a violent two-vehicle collision Wednesday night, February 11, 2009, on Evansville’s North Side. Bernard F. Weber suffered serious head injuries when he was ejected from his Chrysler New Yorker in the wreck on Darmstadt Road at about 7:30 p.m. near Wortman Road. He was reportedly not wearing a seat belt.

Weber was taken to Deaconess Hospital after the wreck, where he was admitted to the trauma intensive care unit in critical condition. He was pronounced dead 9:30 a.m.

Weber was south on Darmstadt when he lost control and began to skid. The vehicle reportedly crossed the center line and collided with an oncoming Ford Taurus driven by Diane R. Roberts. Roberts and a teenage passenger in the Ford Taurus both had complaints of pain and were also taken to the hospital.

A sheriff’s department accident report lists Weber’s vehicle traveling at an unsafe speed as the primary cause of the wreck.
