Albuquerque bicyclist killed on I-25

Oscar Preston, 56, of Albuquerque was struck and killed while riding his bicycle in the right southbound lane of Interstate 25, near mile marker 134 south of San Antonio shortly after 1 this morning.
A 1997 Mercury driven by 25-year-old Bradley Cook, also of Albuquerque, was traveling in the right southbound lane when he saw something in front of him, then swerved into the left lane, but because the bicycle was traveling at a substantially slower speed, Cook was unable to avoid hitting the cyclist.
Alcohol was not a factor in the accident, and State Police were unable to say where and when Preston had begun bicycling on the interstate.
