Car and School Bus Collide in Hampton Township, injuring 10

A crash involving a car and school bus caused minor injuries to 10 people Thursday afternoon, January 5, 2009, in Bay County's Hampton Township

A Hampton Township Police Department spokeswoman said a car traveling south on Finn Road failed to stop at a stop sign at Youngs Ditch Road, causing the crash with the westbound bus at 4:14 p.m.

A driver and six students traveled on the Bay City Public Schools bus, with a driver and two passengers inside the 2001 Oldsmobile that ran the stop sign.

The bus wound up in a ditch on the south side of Youngs Ditch road, while the car wound up off the road along the road's north side. Rescuers took all 10 occupants of both vehicles to Bay Regional Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries.

Police did not release the names of any of the victims.
