Crash kills four Michigan teenagers

ROSEVILLE, Mich. - Devon Spurlock, 19, is the fourth person to die after a high-speed crash involving alcohol and another vehicle in suburban Detroit on Monday night, March 16, 2009.

Devon Spurlock died Tuesday morning. Passengers, Erica Haudek, 15, Stephanie Currie, 16, and Jordan Micelak, 16, all students at Lake Shore High School in St. Clair Shores, were killed Monday night.

Roseville Deputy Police Chief James Berlin says Spurlock’s car was waiting to make a turn on Gratiot Avenue when it was struck by a full-size van driven by a 47-year-old woman.

Berlin says the woman’s blood-alcohol level exceeded the legal limit. She’s expected to be arraigned in the hospital on charges related to the crash. Her injuries are not serious.
