Drunk Driver Dies In LaPorte

A woman in LaPorte County was driving a station wagon at approximately 12:45am Sunday morning when she lost control of the vehicle, hit a guard wire, then hit two trees. She struck the first tree hard enough to rip the roots out of the ground. She then went airborne, and hit the second tree.

The driver, Kelly Pollnow, was only 24 years old and died from the accident. She had a blood alcohol content of .24 percent. Her passenger, a 27 year old male, was also injured.

Neither person was wearing their seatbelt, but airbags did deploy.
