Elderly Harrison County Man Attacked By Three Pit Bulls

Posted on May 27, 2010

An elderly man was attacked by three pit bulls in Corydon, Indiana, while walking on his property this month. Harrison County officials say that the three pit bulls belonged to a neighbor who had an invisible fence to keep the animals on his property. Apparently, a fourth pit bull was protecting a litter of puppies and moved them to a shed on the property of the dog bite victim – and the three other adult pit bulls followed.

The shed and yard was owned by 86-year-old Marvin Brown, a former Navy boxer and long-time Indiana resident. The man was surprised by the three dogs, who attacked him in his yard without warning. His wife called 911 as her husband fought the dog off, but the man sustained serious dog bite injuries as he waited for help.

The three adult pit bulls involved in the attack along with the pit bull puppies are with animal control and in quarantine for ten days while animal control workers determine if any of the animals have rabies. Although the owner surrendered three of his four adult dogs, he is looking to get his animals back in the wake of the vicious dog attack. Brown is fighting to have the dogs put to sleep after they endangered his life and his family.

The pit bulls could have attacked because they were protecting a nearby litter of puppies; however, the owner is responsible for keeping them on his property and prevent them from harming others.
