Falmouth woman killed in car accident in Missaukee County

A woman died as a result of a car accident that occurred just before noon Sunday in Reeder Township, Missaukee County.

A 19-year-old woman from Prudenville was driving northbound on Vandermuelen and failed to stop at the stop sign; she hit a vehicle driven by a 71-year-old Falmouth man, who was heading westbound on Kelly Road. Both vehicles ended up in the north ditch.

Missaukee EMS transported both the 19-year-old female and her 19-year-old male passenger, who is from Houghton Lake, to Munson Hospital. Missaukee EMS transported both the 71-year-old driver from Falmouth and his 67-year-old wife to Cadillac Mercy Hospital. The 67-year-old Falmouth woman was pronounced dead at Cadillac Mercy Hospital.

The incident remains under investigation. Names will be release when police complete family notifications.
