Head on crash leaves two dead, one injured

GREENE COUNTY — A head-on collision Saturday evening,, May 9, 2009, in Greene County killed two and sent one to the hospital with head and back injuries.

A vehicle driven by Preston Williams, 19, Bloomington, was traveling south on Indiana 43 when it moved into the northbound lane to pass another vehicle south of Greene County Road 525 North.

A motorcycle driven by Jerry Marker, 40, Solsberry, was traveling north on the same road and the two vehicles collided.

Marker was reportedly killed instantly, and both vehicles caught fire upon impact.

Williams’ vehicle skidded onto an embankment on the east side of the road, overturned, then rolled down the embankment and came to rest on its top.

Williams’ passenger, Jessica Allman, 19, Bloomington, was pronounced dead at Bloomington Hospital.

Williams was transported from Bloomington Hospital to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis for facial, head and back injuries.

Investigators believe neither Williams nor Allman were wearing seat belts. The accident remains under investigation.
