Hesperia man, grandson killed in crash near Ryerson

Scott Ackley, 46, 7354 Van Buren and his 2-year-old grandson were two of three people killed in a head-on collision Sunday on Maple Island Road near Ryerson on the Muskegon-Newaygo county line.
Also, fatally injured was an unidentified 16-year-old Muskegon boy.
Ackley’s wife, Amy, 34, was airlifted to Spectrum Health where her condition was serious. The couple’s 4-year-old grandson was taken to Gerber Memorial Hospital in Fremont and treated for non-life threatening injuries.
The teen was northbound on Maple Island Road in a Chevrolet passenger car and crossed the centerline, colliding with Ackley’s southbound Chevrolet mini van.
Speed appears to be a factor, but it was unknown if alcohol was involved. The accident remains under investigation
