I-65 traffic snarled for 8 hours due to overturned tanker

Traffic on I-65 was tied up for nearly eight hours Wednesday, February 11, 2009, after a tanker carrying an 8,500-gallon load of gasoline overturned on the city's Far Southside. The crash happened about 5:30 a.m. in the southbound lanes of I-65 about a mile north of the Southport Road interchange.

The driver, Loren G. Hooten, 73, North Vernon, was sent to Wishard Memorial Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

The tanker, owned by N.L. Thomas Trucking of Columbus, was hauling gasoline from Jolietville to Brownstown.
