Indiana Man Saves Pregnant Woman From Dog Attack In Otterbein

Posted on Jan 27, 2011

A pregnant woman is recovering from serious dog bite wounds on her legs after four dogs suddenly attacked her in Otterbein, Indiana, this week. Local officials are hailing a neighbor and his dog as heroes after they stopped the dog attack and got the woman to safety.

The Indiana dog attack occurred on Country Road 950 East on January 10, when Jessica Inman, 2.5 months pregnant, left her home to visit her neighbor. But as she made her way down the road, she was suddenly brought to the ground by four dogs. She attempted to fight the dogs off and screamed for help as they bit her feet and legs.

Down the road, neighbor Bill Farrar was in his yard drinking a cup of coffee alongside his dog when he heard the yells for help. He threw his coffee cup aside and ran to assist his friend. With the help of his dog, he fought the four dogs off of the young woman and got her medical assistance. All in all, Inman required stitches and medical treatment for more than 50 puncture wounds because of the dog attack.

While Inman thinks Farrar is a hero, he isn’t so sure, though he said he’d do the same thing again if it happened tomorrow. He does say, however, that Inman owes him a cup of coffee, since the dog attack caused him to toss his mug.

The four dogs are being held by animal control since they had not been vaccinated for rabies. The fate of the dogs is unknown.
