Man seriously injured in crash

Franklin D. Phillips, 28, was seriously injured in a crash Tuesday morning, May 5, 2009, on C.R. 45, west of Old C.R. 17 in northwest Goshen. Another motorist was later arrested.

Phillips suffered extensive head injuries and was flown to a hospital by Medflight.

The accident occurred at 9 a.m. when a 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 driven by Jermy J. Rohrer, 36, Elkhart, was southeastbound on C.R. 45, following a 1997 Nissan 200SX driven by Phillips.

According to police, Rohrer’s vehicle collided with the rear of the Nissan more than once "due to aggressive driving." Phillips’ vehicle left the road and struck a tree.

Rohrer was later arrested on a charge of leaving the scene of an accident involving serious bodily injury.
