In the middle of a summer tour, the Christian rock band MeryMe was involved in a deadly Indiana car accident and bus accident at an intersection in Fort Wayne, Indiana on Saturday. The band will cancel its sold out concert at Six Flags on Saturday night, according to the band's website, where a picture of the damaged tour bus is also posted.
Fort Wayne Police Officer Liza Thomas, who had interviewed witnesses at the scene of the deadly Indiana bus crash, said that the bus was traveling through a green light at an intersection in northeastern Indiana when a car turned left in front of the vehicle. The IN accident occurred at about a quarter after one in the morning on Saturday, following the band's concert at Parkview Field.
While no one in the tour bus was injured, the car involved in the crash was badly damaged. Two passengers in the car were killed, and the unborn baby of the driver was also killed. The driver of the car remains in critical condition. The 18-year-old pregnant driver of the car was in her third trimester - 35 weeks -- at the time of the Fort Wayne bus accident, said representatives from Parkview Hospital.
Those who died in the Fort Wayne car accident included 19-year-old Dario Boutte and Barbara Schmucker, 17, who were both passengers in a black Chevrolet Cavalier, as well as driver 18-year-old Kara Klinker, according to the Fort Wayne Police Department and the Allen County Coroner's office. Boutte and Schmucker's cause of death was blunt force trauma.
