Monticello man injured after his car strikes parked semi on 300E

Ashton Bell, 18, of rural Monticello, was involved in a two-vehicle accident on Tuesday when his vehicle left the roadway and struck a parked semi-truck.

Bell’s 1990 Buick was southbound on 300E south of 700S at the time of the accident. Authorities were notified of the collision just after 3 p.m.

Bell was pinned in his vehicle until rescue personnel arrived on the scene to extract him. He was flown by PHI Helicopter to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis where he was to be treated for his injuries.

The extent of Bell’s injuries are not known at this time. Additional details surrounding the accident are still pending.
