Northeastside crash kills 1 driver, injures 2

Thomas J. Parks, 20, died at Wishard Memorial Hospital, Monday, March 16, 2009, after the Dodge Neon he was driving was involved in a chain-reaction crash near 42nd Street and Wexford Road in Indianapolis shortly before 6 p.m. The other drivers, Howard Ingram, 49, and Larry Shute, 27, were taken to Methodist Hospital to be treated for their injuries.

Officials say that Ingram was driving east on 42nd Street at a high speed in a maroon Cadillac that struck the tailgate of a GMC pickup being driven by Shute.

The pickup went into the westbound lanes and rolled over on top of Parks' Dodge. The Dodge then hit a telephone pole.
