Oakland Township man killed after breakdown on I-75

Posted on Jan 06, 2009

The Michigan State Police are heading an investigation into the death of Rajinderpal Singh Dhillow, (52) of Oakland Township, whose vehicle had broken down on Interstate-75 on Monday afternoon, January 5, 2009, in Independence Township in the southbound lanes, about a mile south of Sashabaw Road.

Dhillow was out of his vehicle and was struck by a passing tow truck, which was driven by a 39-year-old Lansing man.

According to an initial investigation, the victim had been working on his vehicle when he "suddenly stepped out into the right lane of traffic and was struck by the passing tow truck," the Michigan State Police reported in a press release. Dhillow died at the scene.

The accident remains under investigation.
