REYNOLDS - Terry J. Steiner, 34, of Fond du Lac, WI, driver of a 2006 International truck was eastbound on U.S. Highway 24 on Tuesday, November 17, 2008, when the wheels of the truck got a little bit off the edge of the roadway. Steiner overcorrected and went off the side of the roadNearly three hours were spent clearing a crash scene by local authorities after a semi-tractor-trailer overturned west of the town Tuesday. The truck was registered to Mid-States Trucking.
A telephone pole was damaged in the accident and the truck would up on its passenger side in the middle of the roadway.
Authorities indicate that alcohol was not a factor.
Traffic was backed up until about 3 p.m. as the scene was cleared. While non-commercial vehicles were able to take detours on small county roads, semi trucks were forced to wait on U.S. 24; they were backed up over a mile in each direction according to a witness of the scene.
Steiner escaped without severe injuries, however, he was transported to White County hospital. Apparently there was a fire extinguisher on the inside of the truck. When the truck rolled over, it discharged and filled the whole cab with fire retardant dust.
