State police respond to road rage on I-70 that injured two Illinois residents

Posted on Oct 07, 2008

October 6th 2008--According to Indiana State police, two Illinois residents were injured on Interstate 70 following an act of road rage.

Jacob R. Adams, 24, of Streamwood, Ill. and Renee Garown, 30, of Arlington Heights, Ill. suffered injury after an unnamed driver sideswiped their 2001 Pontiac.   The contact caused Mr. Adams to lose control of his vehicle and flip it, causing it to roll several times.

Mr. Adams stated to police that the unnamed driver was operating a gray Ford Mustang that was fitted with Ohio plates.  Mr. Adams further claimed that the driver of the Mustang had been tailgating his vehicle, speeding up and slowing down, and traveling at high rates of speed.  Witnesses stated that both vehicles passed them at a high rate of speed before the accident occurred.

After the collision, Mr. Adams' car rolled multiple times, hitting trees and a fence, eventually traveling over an embankment and coming to rest off the north side of I-70.

Mr. Adams' passenger, Renne Garown, suffered the most severe injury when a tree limb impaled her leg during the crash.  Ms. Garown was taken to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis by helicopter.

Anyone who saw the crash or the road rage beforehand was asked to contact the Connersville State Police Post at 765-825-2115.
