Stuck accelerator causes serious damage and injuries

Antoinette Bemis of Logansport, suffered several injuries after her van was struck by another vehicle driven by Michael N. Spencer of Logansport during an accident Friday, November 7, 2008, while Bemis was stopped at the drive-thru window at National City Bank in downtown Logansport. According to a report from the Logansport Police Department, the accelerator in Spencer’s vehicle became stuck at full throttle and caused him to run over a curb and strike the drive-thru carrier tube before striking Bemis’ vehicle. Bemis complained of pain to the right-side ribcage, lower back and had a laceration to her left ear. Spencer was arrested on charges of reckless driving and driving while suspended, and was issued a citation for operating a vehicle without financial responsibility.
