Three injured in Twelve Mile single-vehicle crash

Two Twelve Mile residents were hospitalized for injuries they received in a single-vehicle accident on Friday afternoon, February 27, 2009.

David B. Schmid, 54, of Twelve Mile, was found by police with a head laceration from hitting the windshield. Police believe alcohol to be a contributing factor. Schmid was driving north on Broadripple when his car left the right-hand side of the road before he overcorrected. The car veered across the road and ended up in the west-side ditch where it struck a tree near 75N.

The front-seat passenger, wife Lynn Schmid, 41, complained of chest pain. Their daughter, Jordan, 9, complained of head pain. Both were flown by Samaritan Helicopter to Fort Wayne’s Parkview Hospital. They were listed in fair condition Friday night.
