HEADLEE - A two-vehicle crash that sent both drivers to the hospital for their injuries Friday, October 24, 2008. The crash occurred shortly after 2 p.m. in Cass Township at the three-way stop at the intersection of County Roads 800 North and 1100 East and Route 16, where the highway makes a right-angle turn. "Timothy C. Drye, 51, of Burnettsville was driving a 2001 Ford F-250 westbound on Route 16 and failed to yield to the southbound 2000 Chevrolet Malibu driven by Kaleith A. Loehmer, 16, of Winamc", said investigating White County Sheriff Deputy Erik Janke. Westbound traffic on Route 16 at the intersection is required to stop; southbound traffic is not. According to Janke's crash report, Loehmer's vehicle was struck in the left front corner by the pickup's passenger side door. Drye said later he did not see the Malibu approach the intersection, and that he did not recall whether or not he yielded at the stop sign prior to entering the intersection. "Both individuals were transported to the hospital; at this time they are non-incapacitating injuries but they are being checked out by White County Memorial Hospital," said Janke. Drye complained of back pain; Loehmer suffered neck pain. Both vehicles suffered extensive damage; total estimated damage was $10,000 to $25,000.
