Two killed, 3 others injured in Hancock County wreck

Posted on Nov 13, 2008

Rachel Ann Morgan, 24, and Garrett A. Isom, 24, both of New Castle were found dead and lying outside of their vehicle, suggesting they may not have been wearing seatbelts, after and accident that occurred at about 6:30 a.m. November 13, 2008, on Ind. 9, just north of County Road 1000 North in Hancock County.

Morgan and Isom were traveling south on Ind. 9 when they came to a sharp curve to the east. The pavement was slippery, and they lost control of the 1984 Oldsmobile while trying to navigate the curve. The Oldsmobile skidded broadside into the northbound lane, where it was struck in its passenger side by a van traveling north on Ind. 9.

The three van passengers -- Victor L. Parsons II, his wife Nicole, and their son, Lincoln Parsons, 2, all of Greenfield, were transported to Hancock Regional Hospital with minor injuries.

Witnesses told police they had seen Morgan and Isom traveling erratically and cutting in and out of traffic near Pendleton earlier this morning. Toxicology tests will be conducted on all victims as part of standard procedure in fatal accident investigations to determine if alcohol was a factor in the crash.
