Ultralight Aircraft crashes injuring pilot

Danville -- A 51-year-old man was injured Sunday evening, November 2, 2008, after his ultralight aircraft crashed in a field east of Danville about 2,000 feet from the runway of the Hendricks County Airport.

Witnesses told officials that the pilot had been taking off and landing his one-seat aircraft. After its second takeoff, the aircraft reached about 150 feet before stalling and taking a nosedive into the ground.

The pilot, whose name was not released Sunday, was taken to Methodist Hospital, where he was treated for leg, head and possible internal injuries, Waltz said.
