Westfield Crash involving 3 Semi-Trucks kills one person

The driver of a semi-truck was killed and two others were injured in a multiple-vehicle crash on US 31 on November 18, 2008.
Three semi trailers and a car were involved in the crash, which occurred in the southbound lanes of US 31 near State Road 38.
The car was stopped at the red light at the intersection of US 31 and SR 38. There were three semis behind the car. The third semi did not stop, causing a chain reaction crash. The driver of the third and last semi in the chain was killed on impact.
The other two semi drivers went to Methodist Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the small car went to Clarian North with minor injuries.
The crash caused an extensive fuel spill closing the southbound lanes of US 31 until 6:00 pm.
