Mexico truck accidents account for many
serious injuries throughout our state. These
cases involve unique sets of facts, which
require immediate investigation and a law
firm experienced in pursuing trucking companies.
Most commercial trucks today weigh more
than 80,000 pounds while most cars on
the road weigh about 3000 pounds. It is
no wonder that truck accidents usually
result in serious injury or death for
at least one of the individuals involved.
To combat this, there are federal, state,
and local regulations on the books to
regulate trucking. Laws detail everything
from what roads can be used for what cargo,
to how long drivers can be on the road.
Federal Hours of Service ("HOS")
regulations prohibit a driver from being
on the road for more than 11 straight
hours.
Current HOS standards are controversial,
because studies show a large number of
New Mexico semi accidents occur on or
after a truck driver enters his 10th hour
behind the wheel: driver fatigue is a
major cause of truck accidents. Of course,
bad weather, shifting loads, and a variety
of road hazards are also known to cause
commercial truck wrecks in the state of
New Mexico.
If you or a loved one has been injured
in a New Mexico truck accident, then you
may be entitled to recover compensation
for your damages. This may include wrongful
death damages as well as damages for physical
disfigurement, pain and suffering, lost
income, and lost earning capacity. Please
