1 dead after vehicles collide at intersection | Wayne County

WAYNE COUNTY, IN - One person was killed and three others injured in a collision in Wayne County on Saturday afternoon, reports WISH TV.

The Wayne County Sheriff's Office said it believes the driver of a 2006 Dodge Ram failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of U.S. Highway 27 and State Route 122 at about 4 p.m.  The driver of a 2017 Chevy Silverado was headed south on U.S. 27 and struck the Dodge when it entered the intersection.   The Dodge rolled at least once and both vehicles ended up in a nearby field.

A passenger in the Chevy, 60-year-old Nannie Byrd, died at the scene.   The driver, 68-year-old Troy Byrd, was taken to a hospital with significant injuries.  Both were from Manchester, Kentucky.  Two juveniles in the Dodge were hospitalized with minor injuries.

The sheriff's office is investigating the cause of the wreck.
