INDIANAPOLIS, IN - Police announced they have made an arrest in a fatal hit-and-run crash in Indianapolis on Tuesday morning.

A Facebook post by the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department identified the suspect as 33-year-old Jazz Drane.  The incident happened at the intersection of West Michigan Street and North Illinois Street shortly before 8 a.m.

Police arrived to find a woman dead at the scene after being struck by a vehicle.  The victim was 46-year-old Andrea Gibbs.   Witnesses told officers that the driver who hit her fled the area.

The vehicle involved, a truck, was found abandoned not far away.   Detectives analyzing evidence from the crash and the truck, as well as video footage from nearby businesses and public safety cameras, identified Drane as the suspect, according to police.

He was located Wednesday night in the 4300 block of Redfern Drive in Beech Grove. Drane was taken into custody without incident and arrested for leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death.
