Woman dies after being hit by car on I-70 on SW side of Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS, IN - Indiana State Police were at the scene of a fatal accident in Indianapolis early Sunday morning, WISH TV reported.

State troopers arrived shortly after 12:30 a.m. to find a woman dead at the scene on Interstate 70 westbound near the exit for Holt Road.

An investigation determined that the woman was driving when she collided with an outer barrier wall, crossed all lanes, hit an inside wall and stopped in the left lane.

ISP said that as the woman stood outside her car, it was struck by another vehicle and she was sent into the roadway, where she was struck by another car and killed.

Investigators do not believe drugs or alcohol had any role in the crash.  The other drivers involved remained at the scene.

All lanes of I-70 were shut down between Holt Road and Harding Street for the accident investigation.
