ALBUQUERQUE, NM - The Albuquerque Police Department said two people were injured in a crash involving speeding drivers.
According to a news release, the incident happened Sept. 21 at Gibson Boulevard SE and GIrard Boulevard SE, where officers were called to the scene shortly before 3 p.m.
Witnesses reported seeing three vehicles racing at a high rate of speed westbound on Gibson. Video also showed a Chevrolet and a Dodge driving at a high rate of speed through the intersection with a speeding Kia close behind.
As the driver of an eastbound Mitsubishi tried to make a left turn at the intersection, the Kia crashed into the side of the Mitsubishi. The Chevrolet and Dodge drivers kept going west on Gibsno.
The driver of the Mitsubishi was hospitalized in critical condition, while the Kia driver was also taken to the hospital with injuries. Police believe speed was a contributing factor in the wreck.
