Indiana Jury Awards $13 Million In Weinberger Medical Malpractice Case

A northern Indiana jury has found Dr. Mark Weinberger guilty of medical malpractice and has awarded his victim’s family $13 million in damages. Weinberger, who is currently jailed, faces literally hundreds of medical malpractice lawsuits after being careless and negligent with many of his patients while practicing as a nose doctor in Indiana. After being faced with federal charges, Weinberger fled the country and was a fugitive for five years before being caught.

In this most recent case, the family of Phyllis Barnes alleged that Weinberger failed to diagnose the woman’s lung cancer. Barnes went to the doctor complaining of common symptoms of lung cancer, but went undiagnosed by Weinberger, who treated her for a handful of other issues through unnecessary surgeries. Barnes died just before Weinberger was exposed as a fraud and disappeared in Italy.

Weinberger has also been charged with heath care fraud and faces another 350 medical malpractice lawsuits.
