Van crash kills Churubusco man, injures 3

Joseph Auer, 55, died at the scene after he was thrown from a van in a crash Monday, November 17, 2008.

Auer was a passenger in a Ford van driven by Ashley Cordova, 23, of Columbia City. Cordova was driving west on County Road 300 North when she lost control of the van on the snow-covered road.

The van struck an embankment and rolled onto its side. Cordova suffered a back injury and was taken to Whitley Parkview Hospital.

Sam Dirrig, 19; and Patrick Caddy, 50, both of Churubusco and both passengers in the van, were also taken to Whitley Parkview Hospital. All three were treated and released.
