Interstate 64 begins at the Wabash River in Indiana and travels through New harmony, Mount Vermon, Griffin, Poseyville, Cynthiana, Evansville, Terre Haute, Petersburg, Henderson, Lynnville, Boonville, Holland, Tennyson, Huntingburg, Dale, Jasper, Ferdinand, Birdseye, Tell City, Sulphur, Leavenworth, Marengo, Corydon, Lanesvile, Georgetown, Greenville, and New Albany. It passes through the counties of Floyd County, Harrison County, Crawford County, Perry County, Dubois County, Spencer County, Warrick County, Gibson County, Vanderburgh County, and Posey County.
Here are a few other serious accidents that have taken place on I-64 in Indiana:
• In July, two children died and four other people were injured in Posey County on I-64. The accident took place when a tractor-trailer forced a minivan off the road while passing a second tractor trailer. The minivan left the roadway and flipped several times, ejecting two of the children inside. • Just this week, a 69-year-old man was killed on I-64 in Harrison County, Indiana when he lost control of his vehicle and ran into a brick wall on the side of the road. • Two days before Christmas, a truck driver died of burn injuries in an I-64 truck accident when his vehicle slammed into the underside of an overpass and caught on fire. • In June of last year, a wrong-way car accident on I-64 left one man with a serious brain injury and left two other drivers with minor injuries. It is unclear what made the man drive the wrong way on the interstate.
