1 dead, 1 injured after car crashes into light pole in Elkhart

ELKHART, IN - One man was killed and another injured when their vehicle crashed in Elkhart early Sunday morning, WBND reports.

The Elkhart Police Department Fatal Crash Team said a Pontiac Torrent crashed into a light pole in the vicinity of Benham Avenue and W. Indiana Avenue at about 2:30 a.m.

A passenger in the front seat, identified as 32-year-old Montrell Curtis of Elkhart, died after being transported to an area hospital.  The driver, 27-year-old Walter Holmes of Elkhart, was critically injured.

Investigators are trying to determine the cause of the fatal wreck.
