1 driver dead, 1 injured following collision in Algoma Township

ALGOMA TOWNSHIP, MI - A collision between two vehicles in Kent County on Thursday evening left one of the drivers dead, according to the Greenville Daily News.

Th.e fatal wreck took place at the intersection of Indian Lakes Road and Pine Island Drive NE in Algoma Township.  The Kent County Sheriff's Office said the driver of a Ford Fusion was headed east on Indian Lakes Road and went through a stop sign at about 5 p.m.

The Fusion collided with a Chevrolet Silverado traveling southbound.  The driver of the Ford, a 21-year-old man from Gowen, was pronounced dead at the scene.  The Chevrolet driver, a 69-year-old Belmont man, suffered injuries that were not life-threatening and was taken to an area hospital

Kent County sheriff's officers were assisted at the scene by the Michigan State Police and local first responders.
