2 injured when pickup trucks collide on US-20 in LaGrange County

LAGRANGE COUNTY, IN -  A collision involving two pickup trucks in LaGrange County last week left two people injured, authorities said.

According to WFFT, the incident occurred April 8 on U.S. 20 near C.R. 200 E at about 7:49 a.m. The LaGrange County Sheriff's Office said the driver of a Dodge Ram pickup truck was speeding while headed west on U.S. 20 and followed too close to a vehicle that was slowing down to make a turn onto C.R. 200 E.

The Ram went off the side of the road to avoid hitting the vehicle and slammed into a Ford F-250 that was stopped at the intersection, causing it to flip over.

The driver of the Ford, 38-year-old Derek S. Damon of Sturgis, Michigan, and his passenger, 32-year-old Dakotah R. Baldridge of LaGrange, were taken to an area hospital with injuries to the left side of their bodies.  The Dodge driver, 45-year-old Clint T. Renkenberger of Kendallville, was not injured.
