WAYNE TOWNSHIP, MI - Police and first responders were called to the scene of a fatal accident on Dutch Settlement Street in Cass County on Sunday morning, MLive.com reports.
An investigation indicated that a man was driving an SUV east at about 7:40 a.m. when his vehicle went off the road near Nubour Road in Wayne Township and collided with a tree.
The driver, identified as 72-year-old Doren Preston of Cassapolis, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Cass County Sheriff's Office is investigating the wreck and said that it does not appear that drugs or alcohol were contributing factors.
The sheriff's office was assisted by Dowagiac police, Wayne Township firefighters and Southwestern Michigan Community Ambulance Service.
