Man, 64, fatally struck by hit-and-run driver in east Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS, IN - Indianapolis police are investigating a hit-and-run incident that killed a pedestrian early Sunday morning, WXIN reports.

Officials said a man was struck by a vehicle in the vicinity of E. 16th Street and N. Ritter Avenue shortly before 3:30 a.m. The victim, identified as 64-year-old Alvin Staggers, was pronounced dead after being taken to an area hospital.

The driver involved in the crash fled the scene heading in an unknown direction. So far there has been no description of the driver or the vehicle being sought, and no arrests have been made.
