Man suspected of drunk driving after crashing into Battle Creek store

BATTLE CREEK, MI - Police are investigating a car crash that occurred at a store in Battle Creek last week.

A report by WKZO states that the incident happened early Thursday morning at the Dollar General located at 588 Capital Ave SW.  According to Battle Creek police, the driver of a 2012 GMC Envoy was going south on    Capital Avenue at about 4 a.m. when he missed a curve in the road.  

The vehicle went off the road, hit the back of the store, and ended up inside the building.  Investigators said speed and alcohol appear to have been contributing factors in the accident.

The driver, a 25-year-old man, was extricated and taken to an area hospital in stable condition.  The crash caused extensive damage to the building.
