Motorcyclist injured after being struck by SUV in Coldwater

COLDWATER, MI - The Coldwater Department of Public Safety said an accident on Wednesday evening left a motorcycle rider injured, according to WOOD.

Police said the driver of a Chevrolet SUV was turning out of a grocery store parking lot on US-12 near Lott Road when the incident occurred at about 7:06 p.m.  The driver, a 48-year-old woman from Camden, turned to head east on US-12 and collided with a motorcycle going west on the roadway.

The motorcyclist, a 29-year-old Coldwater man, was flown to a Kalamazoo hospital and was listed in critical condition.  He did not appear to have been wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, police said.  The SUV driver was treated and released from an area hospital.
