Pedestrian injured after being hit by vehicle in Plainfield Township

PLAINFIELD TOWNSHIP, MI - Police said an accident in Kent County last Wednesday evening sent a pedestrian to the hospital, MLive.com reported.

A man was struck by a vehicle near the intersection of Hunsberger Avenue and Providence Street in Plainfield Township at about 6:40 p.m.  According to an investigation by the Kent County Sheriff's Office, the driver of a Toyota Prius was headed north on Hunsberger Avenue and observed the pedestrian in the roadway but was unable to stop in time.

The victim, a 46-year-old Plainfield man, was seriously injured in the collision and taken to an area hospital for treatment.  The driver involved, a 35-year-old man from Grand Rapids, was not injured.

Authorities are continuing their investigation into the incident.
