Woman injured when car crashes into pole in Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS, IN - Police and first responders were called to the scene of a car accident in Indianapolis early Friday morning, WXIN reports.

Police said a woman was driving in the 1400 block of E. Washington Street on the city's near east side when the incident occurred at about 4 a.m.

A preliminary investigation indicated that the vehicle crossed over the middle lane and collided with a utility pole. The driver was transported to an area hospital with critical injuries.

Indianapolis police are continuing to investigate the cause of the crash.
