News: Driver sought after leaving scene of Chaves County crash

CHAVES COUNTY, NM - A driver left the scene of a crash that injured two people in Chaves County Sunday evening, authorities said.

The Roswell Daily Record reports two vehicles collided in the area of the Roswell Relief Route and South Sunset Avenue at about 5:30 p.m.  Investigators believe the driver of a Volkswagen Beetle went through a stop sign at the intersection and crashed into a Santa Fe Hyundai.  New Mexico State Police said the driver of the Volkswagen left before police got to the scene.

A passenger in the Hyundai, a 78-year-old woman, sustained injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening and was transported to a hospital for treatment.  The driver of the Hyundai, a 54-year-old woman, suffered minor injuries.

A search is continuing for the driver of the Volkswagen, which was yellow or green and likely has front-end damage.  Anyone with further information was asked to contact New Mexico State Police, our Albuquerque car accident attorney adds.
